The Astraeus ADF-340X Relay is a fictional air defence and superiority fighter built by the Astraeus Corporation. It was first introduced in Update 1.154.0 on September 14th, 2024
Information edit edit source
The pilot better not be claustrophobic, becuase the ADF-340X Relay is a near future advanced air defense fighter whose main claim to fame is its fully enclosed cockpit and option to be flown entirely by AI.
The ADF-340 at first glance is a very strange aircraft. For one, it features what is called a "COnnection For Flight INterface" or COFFIN system, which is a fancy name for a windowless 360 degree cockpit. This means the Relay uses a suite of cameras to allow the pilot to see outside, and thus the pilot has a near uninteruppted 360 degree view of the aircrafts immediate surroudnings. This system also means that it can have an advanced AI fly the plane instead of a pilot, allowing the Relay to pull some truly stupid moves.
The Relay also has no internal gun. Instead, if the player presses Y, the nose will open to reveal the Relay's advanced Tactical Laser System, which can be "fired" by pressing Q (though this beam does no damage and only illuminates the target).
Gameplay edit edit source
Shes a fighter, and has post stall manuevers. There really isn't much more to it. Use it for airstrike jobs, or use its very high manueverability to race. Beyond that, this plane is an extremely expensive trophy piece for those with the 2024 Valentines badge to flex.
Trivia edit edit source
- If you are not an Ace Combat fan, you may not realize that the Relay is, in fact, a made up pseudonym for the Gründer Industries ADF-01 Falken from Ace Combat. The entire model, from the COFFIN cockpit to the TLS system, is a carbon copy of the Falken. How Astraeus managed to get these blueprints remains a mystery.
