Flutter Air Cargo is an international cargo carrier.
History
Formed in 1976, Flutter was originally named Avalon Continental Cargo (ACC) and was created in an attempt to promote rapid transit across the continent of Avalon using air travel. It was originally based out of Valois International with limited success. In the next few decades the company went into steady decline and trading ownership on a regular basis up to the late 90s.
In 1999 a Meihua based company purchased the airline. The plan was to use ACC as a tool to more easily break into the lucrative Kyokkou-Avalon cargo market. This was met with little to no success for the new owners. The next 13 years were met with failure after failure with little to no ability to secure contracts. Naturally this led to wild underperformance, with financial "experts" often questioning why the parent company kept ACC around, and kept pumping money into it. Trying to make the airline work when clearly, nothing worked. In 2012 this came to an end as the parent company after a string of financial slipups, not least ACC itself, led to it having to file for bankruptcy protection. During this period a lot of assets were sold off, especially those of the subsidiaries. In mid 2012 in the midst of this selloff of assets ACC was sold off along with its remaining assets. These assets were purchased by a Valois based group of investors seeing it as the easiest way to get their hands into the international cargo market they had been attempting to enter for the past 10 years. Naturally, the general public and experts alike believed this too would fail as it had practically the same goal as the previous purchase.
The new group of investors set about completely reforming the company, starting off by renaming their new acquisition to Flutter. They also sold off many of the assets that they perceived useless to their plans, not least of which the aircraft they got with the purchase, most of which were relics from the 80s and going on to dry-lease a number of 767-200Fs from Yong Kong based aircraft lesser ALTAN that were replaced later by -300s. By the end of 2014, they had somehow managed to pull off what the online aviation community called "a miracle" and went into the green with profits increasing year on year since then.
In 2015 the airline ordered their first brand new aircraft, a number of Boeing 7E7Fs, becoming the launch operator of the type a few years later.
In more recent years Flutter has more often than ever before been able to throw punches with established cargo heavyweights such as UDS and TTLL. Taking delivery of their first brand new 747-8f in 2018 and subsequent deliveries of converted A321s from a defunct regional carrier the growth only continued to come. These deliveries followed closely by being among the first to receive the new ATR 72F in 2020.
In 2022 the most recent order for new aircraft was placed with an unprecedented order of A350Fs to replace their now aging 767s and lead the airline into the next decades of operation.
