History edit
In 1996, an affable businessman from Umibitsu was headed to Anhedral from Pavlada when his Anhedral Airways flight was cancelled. Disgruntled, the next day he chartered a 737-300 from Anhedral Midland, inviting his friends along for the ride. A couple hours later, a blue and grey 737 touched down at Anhedral with a rather happy man. Intrigued by the flight, the next day, a makeshift headquarters was established in Anhedral with the website domain "SmoothJet.rblx" bought online. The 737-300 was then purchased from Anhedral Midland and the airline started operations, with a single route between Anhedral and Oakport, sporting the first iteration of SmoothJet's livery, hand painted by the now CEO and his friends. The single 737 would then be joined by an A320, and another, and another, and soon enough the fleet blossomed through various deals with lessors.
By 1998, the airline had a small but strong fleet of the single 737 and 4 second-hand A320s. In a strange turn of events, the small airline ordered 100 brand new A320-200s, with deliveries starting that same year. It is unsure where the money came from considering the CEO was involved with the forced introduction of L1011s with a certain Eikoan airline that starts with "A" and ends with "KA". Nonetheless, the surplus amount of A320s promoted the growth of SmoothJet's network, with a hub finally being established in Oakport. A tactic SmoothJet used was incorporating the website on their livery which worked, somehow. New destinations were slowly being added, and more planes were being delivered. In 2000, the airline announced another order for 100 A319s, despite the abundance of A320s. The airline's all-or-nothing attitude paid off in the long-run with the airline finally making a profit in 2002 as SmoothJet A319s and A320s flooded airports across Avalon. With the airline now being profitable, the airline placed an order of 100 A321s. With a bloated fleet of 301 aircraft, it was discussed that some planes should be sold. So, 2005 saw the sad farewell of the single 737-300, which was promptly flown to Solada Scrapyard and scrapped the very same day. How sad.
2008 was the year SmoothJet established routes to every regional airport in Avalon, thanks to Oakport's strategic location. This meant that cross-country flights with a stopover in Oakport were significantly cheaper compared to those operated by the mainline carriers, increasing competition in the domestic market. As a result, the popularity of SmoothJet erupted as the strong fleet of 300 aircraft shuttled passengers continent-wide. Apparently, that was still not enough aircraft as a dozen 757-200s were cascaded from Anhedral Airways in 2010 to increase capacity to tourist destinations. These would operate with the airline for 4 years until they were sold off as requested by AA. During this time, the airline placed orders for 150 aircraft, with 50 of each of the following: A319NEO, A320NEO, A321NEO. Along with that order introduced a new livery in anticipation of the new planes, and long-term plans were put in place to phase out the current aircraft.
Nowadays, the airline has earned a reputation of being one of the safest LCCs in Avalon, with at least 3 or more flights a day to each regional airport in Avalon. It may not be the most luxurious airline on the continent, but hey, who can resist cheap flights?
